Ciao Roma!

28 April

I left for Rome today! It was a long day of traveling leaving for the airport around 6:30 am and finally arriving in Rome around 2 in the afternoon. I met with Mira and Lauren as soon as I got off the bus and dropped my bag off at their apartment until I could check into my airbnb. We walked around their neighborhood of Trastevere and I ended up finding a pair of sandals which will come in handy for my last trip after finals.

The neighborhood of Trastevere was the typical small, colorful streets of Rome you see in all the pictures. It was so cute and instantly makes you feel like a bit of a local. We instantly went for gelato.

I checked into my airbnb which was only a short tram ride and walk from the neighborhood. The room I stayed in was wonderful and had everything I needed – a bed. I had my own bathroom as well and just had to share the shower with my host. She was an excellent host and it felt like I was staying with a friend more than a random host.

After a quick check-in the 3 of us took the tram back to Trastevere for dinner. We went to a little place (I think it was called La Scala) where we ordered a bottle of the house red wine and calamari as an appetizer. Apparently calamari originated in Italy. I also ate the BEST spaghetti and meatballs of my entire life. You could taste how fresh the pasta was.

After dinner we went our separate ways since they had to study for their exams. I crashed quickly in the queen bed I had all to myself  🙂
